A Visit to Cheung’s Gold in Hong Kong – Office Found
Hong Kong

Reason for this visit

The international forex market in Hong Kong has been developing since the 1970s. Due to the removal of forex control in Hong Kong since 1973, there has been a large inflow of international capital, and an increasing number of financial institutions operating forex business have mushroomed. The forex market has become more and more active, developing into an international forex market. Hong Kong forex market is an invisible market without a fixed trading venue. Traders conduct forex transactions through various modern communication facilities and computer networks. Hong Kongs geographical location and time zone conditions are similar to those of Singapore, making it very convenient to trade with other international forex markets. Participants in Hong Kong forex market are mainly commercial banks and financial companies. There are three types of forex brokers in this market: local brokers, whose business is limited to Hong Kong; international brokers who have expanded their business to the Hong Kong forex market since the 1970s; international brokers that grow locally and has expanded their business to forex markets abroad. In an attempt to help investors or practitioners gain a more comprehensive understanding of current status of forex brokers in Hong Kong, WikiFX survey team determines to pay on-site visits to local companies.

On-site visit

In this issue, the survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit broker Cheungs Gold as planned according to its regulatory address that Room 507, 5/F, Wai On Centre, 3 Hok Yuen East Street, Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

A seasoned and professional inspection team, committed to safeguarding investor interests, conducted a meticulously planned on-site verification of the prominent forex broker Cheungs Gold at Wai On Centre, 3 Hok Yuen East Street in Hung Hom.

The area surrounding Hok Yuen East Street in Hung Hom is a comprehensive commercial district characterized by dense pedestrian traffic and diverse business offerings. Both sides of the street are lined with retail shops, dining establishments, residential buildings, and educational institutions, creating a vibrant and bustling environment. Wai On Centre, a typical industrial-commercial building in the area, features a clean and modern exterior that blends harmoniously with its surroundings. Upon arrival, the inspection team first verified the clearly visible exterior signage of the building before proceeding indoors for a more thorough assessment.

After entering the lobby of Wai On Centre, the inspectors located the building directory, which explicitly listed “Cheung‘s Gold Traders Ltd” in Room 507 on the 5th floor. Although no company logo was visible on the building’s exterior or in common areas, the directory provided sufficient preliminary evidence of the companys presence.

The team then took the elevator to the 5th floor, where they observed a prominent doorplate at Room 507 displaying the company‘s full Chinese and English name (“Cheung’s Gold Traders Ltd”) alongside its dedicated logo. This discovery further confirmed the authenticity of the business premises. Despite being unable to access the interior (due to access control restrictions), external observations confirmed the office entrance was well-maintained and aligned with the buildings professional aesthetic.

Verification confirmed the office was exclusively occupied (non co-working space). While internal details such as workstation count and layout remained unverifiable without entry, the doorplate signage and floor plan suggested a small-to-medium-sized office suitable for a precious metals trading operation.

Through the on-site investigation, it is confirmed that Cheungs Gold maintains a physical presence at the above address.

Conclusion

The survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit broker Cheungs Gold as scheduled and found the company at its regulatory address. It denotes that the broker has a physical office at the place. Meanwhile, investors are advised to make a well-considered decision following much deliberation.
